Ours doesn't have that feature (not an old set either), but I will toggle through the different sound settings to get the best for a particular show/movie as well as keeping the sub-titles on most times. First world problems...

I certainly hope the situation improves. We have turned up the "dialogue" volume through our TV's setting, and it has at least helped.

I'd actually considered adding the "First word problems" line to the column, since in the grand scheme of things, it's a pretty minor gripe.
