It's good you are spending more time with him albeit under unfortunate circumstances.
At least he has his faculties. Early onset dementia robbed me of any meaningful interaction for the last 5 years of my fathers life. Once they're gone, they're gone as they say, and you you never know when or how for the most part. Best wishes to you and the family in your Dad's twilight hours.
