Last week, I introduced you all to Kyson, my family’s new foster dog. We picked him up about a week and half ago, and I didn’t expect to cover him a whole lot in this newsletter beyond in the weekly “Obligatory Dog Shot” section.
However, as (bad) luck would have it, during that same period of time I’ve been dealing with major appliances breaking (including our air-conditioning unit in 90-degree weather), multiple family health episodes, and work-related fire alarms that have put me way behind on my writing and other duties. And of course the time, work, and patience involved in introducing a new dog into a household that already has two dogs didn’t exactly help the situation — especially with neighborhood bozos still setting off left-over fireworks at night.
In trying to catch up on things, I was worried that I wouldn’t have time to write this week’s newsletter. Thankfully, Kyson has come to the rescue.
No, he isn’t stepping in as a substitute-writer this week. That would be weird. Nonetheless, he has demonstrated some serious talent as a content generator. That’s because he’s — well… hilarious. Not just in appearance but also personality. It’s something we weren’t expecting.
The Dalys like pit bulls, and when we spotted a picture of Kyson posted online by the dog-rescue’s Oklahoma branch, we decided he would be our first foster. He looked like your average pit bull, and we figured he was probably between 50 and 60 pounds — maybe just a little larger than our largest dog, Piper. But when a van door opened at the local branch the Saturday before last, and we got our first in-person look at Kyson, we discovered that our estimate was a bit off.
The dude was big — not just naturally, but with a fair amount of extra weight. We’re guessing he came in at about 75 pounds. And between his fat head, tank-like torso, cartoonish facial expressions, and uproarious resting poses, we can’t stop taking pictures of him. He’s like a living meme.
So, to fill up space in this week’s newsletter, and grant me some time to catch up on other things (including giving this big boy two walks a day to work off some of that chub), I present to you the many shades of Kyson.
Enjoy.
