Wow. Contact. A great science fiction movie. Interesting conflicts throughout. There was a scene where a side by side shot of Joss on TV speaking of faith in an interview while a lab scientist - Arroway’s assistant - is carving a pumpkin and displaying his “Halloween fangs.” A little good versus evil thing going on there. But most strikingly for me was Arroway’s meeting with a “Vegan” whose appearance was that of her father. I took this as not science but religion. She didn’t meet a Vegan or her father. She actually met the face of god. When the most evil thing mankind and science ever produced - Hitler and his Nazis - was transmitted to the ether, it was time to intervene. Science meets Religion. Perhaps a stretch here - but interpretation is part of the wonderment.
