George Lazenby? Was he in a Bond film? Frankly, my eyes were on Diana Rigg the whole movie. I agree that Daniel Craig is the best Bond, Connery second. The cartoonist aspect was part of Connery's charm. It was a wink and a nod to the audience.

I've been a fan of Average White Band since they started. I was a college DJ and as far as I know, I was the first to play "Pick up the Pieces" in the New York area. Yeah, it sounds like James Brown. I saw them play at the Shaeffer Festival in New York. Diana Ross was in the crowd. I first became aware of them as the Dundee Horns on an album called "Rock On" by the Bunch. The Bunch were Fairport Convention folk rockers making an album of cover songs from the pre Beatle era to test a new recording studio built by Richard Branson. I have a 50 year old copy on vinyl. Same for AWB.

After seeing From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, Dr. No, and Thunderball in theaters in the 60s and 70s, I read a bunch of the books. I will always favor Sean Connery in the movie role, but as I read the books I actually pictured Richard Burton as 007.
